CHARITABLE SALE EXHIBITION
MODERN UKRAINIAN EPIC
EPITAPHS AND ELEGIES
Oleh Denysenko a Ukrainian artist of
international renown; a holder of 30+
awards worldwide; full member of Academic
Senate of the International Academy of
Modern Art in Rome.
Alexandre Denysenko – a film director, art-
visionary, and co-author of gessography; a
holder of 30+ international awards, pupil and
assistant of Oscar winning director Andrzej
Wajda.
GESSOGRAPHY — A NEW KIND OF FINE ART

In the artworks presented at the exhibition,
the authors employed a groundbreaking
technique of gessography. This new kind of
fine arts is a Ukrainian patented invention and
a new artistic idiom to last as an intellectual
heritage for the generations to come.
THE NEW YORK TIMES
Tanya Mohn, 27 avril 2022
"Oleh Denysenko is best known for his
intricate etchings... his recent works are
rendered in a new technique he has created
called “gessography”, combining the age-old
methods of engraving with gesso and
painting."

GESSOGRAPHY – A MODERN UKRAINIAN EPIC

As far as its core subject matter, gessography
is an epic story, told through the language of
art, about the eternal struggle between good
and evil.
The world’s public recognizes these artworks
as allegorical narratives of Ukraine's brave
resistance to Russia's aggression, of the war
that is not just a ‘conflict in Ukraine’ but a
clash of light and darkness.

TRUE PLEASURE OF PAINTING
Deeply personal and yet firmly anchored in a
vigorous tradition of the abstract school,
Lidia Markiewicz's paintings are experienced
as an authentic moment of choice hidden
between the liveliness of nuances and the
aesthetics of chiaroscuro, between the
mixture of thoughts and the courage of
lyricism.
The true pleasure of painting passes through
the canvases with energy, leaving an imprint
of an experience of the moment mixed with
plastic maturity” M.W.

EPITAPHS AND ELEGIES
The abyss of war, landscapes of blood, the
bread full of fear.
However, the land remembers and will
introduce the order of rebirth.
Life will dance in its eternal cycle.
Even though there are still forests burning,
let's take care of the roses!

ARTISTIC VOICES
RESIST RUSSIAN AGGRESSION
"The motto of our exhibition – “I wish for
peace” – is a reference to the perennial truth:
“If you wish for peace, prepare for war”.
Peacefulness includes the ability to stand up
for one’s values. Ukrainians are a peaceful
nation, but they never hesitate to defend
their freedom.
To resist the evil, the good should be well-
armed. That is why a significant part of our
work is the charitable component and
support of Ukraine”.

CHARITABLE COMPONENT
A charitable auction will be conducted as
part of the exhibition. «Good hunt» artwork
bearing an inscription by Commander-in-
Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeri
Zaloujny, will be offered as a special auction
lot.
All proceeds from the auction — as well as
part of the proceeds from the sale of other
works — will be donated to the cause of
defending democratic values in Ukraine.
